The state expanded its eligibility on Monday, March 22 to include residents 60 and over, as well as a new group of essential workers.
Essential workers now eligible include:
- Grocery store employees;
- Retail and foodservice workers;
- Convenience store workers;
- Transit workers;
- Public works and sanitation workers;
- Utility workers;
- Funeral workers;
- People in public health;
- Court staff;
- Food pantry workers and volunteers;
- Vaccine development workers;
- Medical supply chain volunteers.
The eligibility for the vaccine in Massachusetts is set to expand to residents 55 and older and those with comorbidities on Monday, April 5. The rest of the state’s population 16 and up will become eligible on Monday, April 19.
On Monday, the state also opened up the Hynes Convention Center as its newest mass vaccination site with the ability to administer 500 doses daily.
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported over the weekend that 1,069,768 people in the state have been vaccinated against COVID-19, representing approximately 15.5 percent of the population.
